The postseason begins for the Hoptown Hoppers tonight as Fulton comes to town in the first of their best-of-three semifinal series in the Ohio Valley League playoffs.
The Hoppers enter tonight’s game having not played since last Saturday night when they hammered Madisonville 13-3 in seven innings. Hoptown is 24-11 and is the No. 2 seed in this year’s tournament.
Fulton, the sixth seed, only won 11 games in the regular season, but swept past third seed Full Count earlier this week to get to the semifinals. The Railroaders enter tonight’s game with a 13-27 record.
Tonight is Little League night and all youngsters wearing their league jerseys will be admitted free. The first 100 fans into the game also will receive a free Hoppers tee shirt.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with airtime at 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
The second game in the series is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Lohaus Field in Fulton. If a third game is needed, it is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at Tiger Field. All games will be broadcast on 95.3 The Farm and 95.3thefarm.com.
Meanwhile, Henderson’s Gunnar Waldrop was named the Cubb Stokes Most Valuable Offensive Player of the OVL for 2026 on Thursday.
Waldrop, who plays for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, led the OVL in RBI (56), hits (51), slugging percentage (.822), OPS (1,360), doubles (15), home runs (12), and stolen bases. His .395 batting average was third in the league.
