JJ Thompson signs to play for Wright State Baseball (Interview/Photos)

On Wednesday afternoon, JJ Thompson applied fresh ink to a document officially committing to play for Wright State’s baseball program.

Thompson, a senior at Hopkinsville High School, shared his thoughts on what went through his mind after the special moment.

Along with multiple friends and family, JJ’s travel ball coach, “Coach Manny” was in attendance for his signing and talked about the huge steps that were taken in Thompson’s development as a baseball player. He used a comical reference saying JJ went from hoping to be on the bus to driving the bus.

When it comes to his development in baseball and how he was able to elevate his game, JJ had this to say.

While signing in the fall, Thompson’s spring full of baseball with Hopkinsville Tigers and is very excited to compete with his teammates in his last ride.

Interim head coach for HHS baseball, Malcom Tipler is a big fan of JJ’s game and talked about how he was highly impressed when he first saw JJ at practice.

As he mentioned multiple times during his speech at the signing and in his interview, JJ has had a great support system and he took some time to thank a specific few of those people that have helped him.
