Lady Blazers blank CCHS, head to All ‘A’ State quarterfinals

University Heights Academy’s girls’ soccer team warmed up for its All “A” State Tournament game Friday by shutting out host Christian County 8-0 Thursday night in a District 8 match.

The victory secured the top seed in next month’s district tournament for UHA, which improved to 10-1-1 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Kendall Hancock had five goals and an assist to power the Lady Blazers against the Lady Colonels, who fell to 3-9-1 overall and 0-2 in district play.

Cecilia Langhi, Gracie Ausenbaugh, and Katelynn Gibson also scored for the Lady Blazers. Audrey Perry provided three assists. Skylar Cantrell had two assists and Palin Hampton also had an assist for UHA.

Madison Williams earned the shutout in goal with one save.

The Lady Blazers are scheduled to play No. 5-ranked Bishop Brossart at 2:15 p.m. local time today in the All “A” quarterfinals. A victory would move UHA into the tournament semifinals at 6:45 p.m. today.

Christian County is scheduled to return to action Saturday at Union County.
