Christian County High School girls’ soccer coach Peyton Moshier smiled as he watched over his team’s practice recently at the Stadium of Champions.
The reason for Moshier’s good mood is the last Lady Colonels’ soccer team in school history should be deeper and more athletic than last year’s team, which finished 2-16-1.
Leading the way for Christian County this season is junior goalkeeper NeZiah Bell, who moved into the keeper position early in the 2024 season. While growing into the position, Bell stopped 134 shots and allowed 59 goals in 18 games.
Bell will have plenty of help on defense as the Lady Colonels return several key members of last year’s team including juniors Carliah Hobson, Carlie Hobson, and Jayleigh Campbell. Freshman Nora Westerfield also will be counted on for a strong season in 2025. Junior Sara Godsey also is a returning player on defense.
Campbell will also play some at midfield. She and sophomore Emerson Boyd are the team’s top returning scorers with four last season.
Westerfield also could see time at midfield along with junior Genesis McGee and senior Virginia Lopez.
Moshier, who is beginning his third season as head coach of the Lady Colonels, said he has more speed on this year’s team. He points to the addition of Aaliyah Bell, a basketball player and member of the school’s track team. Moshier said Bell could be an offensive weapon this year for the Lady Colonels.
The schedule is another tough one this season for the Lady Colonels, but Moshier said he thinks it will prepare his team for a run to the region tournament.
Christian County High School is playing its final year as the Lady Colonels as the school will consolidate with Hopkinsville next fall to make the Christian County Tigers.
Moshier said he has emphasized to the team to represent the school well on and off the field.
Christian County opens the 2025 season tonight at home against Crittenden County.
