The Christian County Lady Colonels and Hopkinsville Lady Tigers met for the first time on the District 8 volleyball court this season Thursday night in Tiger Gym.
Christian County picked up a 3-0 win over a feisty Hoptown squad.
The Lady Colonels saw a big lead close to one point before closing out the Lady Tigers 25-21 in the first set.
Christian County dominated play from the outset in the second set and cruised to a 25-12 win. However, the Lady Tigers kept fighting and pushed the Lady Colonels to the limit in the third set before falling 25-23.
Madysen Taggart had eight kills, three digs, and an ace to lead Hoptown. Brooke Stewart had eight assists and Abby Surber and Saralynn Major each had two aces, two digs, and two kills. Sammy Walker had two kills, a block, and an ace.
Christian County did not provide statistics after the game.
The Lady Colonels improved to 14-13 overall and 3-0 in District 8 play. Hoptown slipped to 4-16 overall and 0-5 in district play.
Christian County, which has won three straight matches, returns to action Monday night at Heritage Christian Academy in a District 8 match.
Hoptown, which saw a two-match winning streak halted, is scheduled to play at McLean County Monday night.
