The Christian County Lady Colonels and Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors battled for the top spot in the District 8 volleyball standings Thursday night at Lyle Dunbar Gym.
Christian County took over first place in the standings with a 3-1 win.
The Lady Colonels took the first set 25-22 before the Lady Warriors bounced back for a 25-17 win in the second. The two teams battled back and forth in the third set before the host Lady Colonels grabbed a 25-21 win.
Christian County secured the victory by pulling away late in the fourth set and won 25-15.
Skylar Kirby led the Lady Colonels with 11 kills, nine digs, three aces and three assists. Abby Gibbs had a block and four kills and Kaidence Atwell added eight kills. Carly Armstrong also had a good night at the net with four kills.
Ashlea Russell had three aces and 26 assists and Shiloh Baker added a pair of aces and 14 digs.
Mya Goodwin had 17 kills, 12 assists, nine digs and one ace for the Lady Warriors. Makenzie McCarty had four kills, 12 assists, 11 digs and one ace. Bralee Fowler added four kills, one block, an ace and six digs. Allie Craft had 23 digs, two kills, and three assists.
Christian County moved to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in district play. HCA fell to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the district standings.
