The regular season is done and now it’s win or go home for area high school basketball teams.
The Girls’ District 8 Tournament begins tonight at Hopkinsville High School with the host Lady Tigers taking on Fort Campbell at 6 p.m. The Lady Tigers fell to Russellville 70-39 over the weekend to fall to 1-17 on the season. They have lost 14 straight games since beating the Lady Falcons in December.
Fort Campbell enters tonight’s game at 3-11 after falling 49-36 to Fulton City on Saturday.
The Lady Falcons’ last win over the Lady Tigers came in the 2005 District 8 Tournament, 34-30.
Tonight’s winner advances to Thursday night’s championship game against Christian County at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, the boys’ District 8 Tournament begins Tuesday night at Tiger Gym with host Hopkinsville meeting Fort Campbell at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers are 15-13 on the year and defeated the Falcons 92-36 in their only meeting this season.
The Falcons are 9-17 and are coming off a 66-44 win over Fulton City on Saturday.
Tuesday’s second semifinal game will feature defending District 8 Tournament champion Christian County (12-12) against University Heights Academy (7-16) at 7 p.m. The Colonels defeated the Blazers 75-65 two weeks ago.
Airtime for Tuesday’s semifinals will be at 5:30 p.m. on 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP and around 7 p.m. on 95.3 the Farm and 953thefarm.com.
The cost to enter each night is $10 cash only at the door. No passes will be honored and students must pay to attend the games.
