The Girls’ Region 2 Basketball Tournament begins tonight at with region favorite and District 6 champion Henderson County meeting District 5 runner-up Lyon County at 6 p.m. at Christian County High School. The Lady Colonels (24-5) defeated the Lady Lyons (21-9) last month 66-49.
The other game in the top portion of the bracket will feature District 7 champion Hopkins County Central (19-13) against District 8 runner-up Hopkinsville (10-12) at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Storm 68-53 in mid-January. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame Show will be around 7:30 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
In the bottom portion of the bracket, District 8 champion and tournament host Christian County (17-9) will take on District 7 runner-up Madisonville-North Hopkins (15-10) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Lady Colonels defeated the Lady Maroons 68-44 in their only matchup this season in December. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame Show will be at 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
The last game of the first round will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and feature District 5 champion Crittenden County (21-7) against District 6 runner-up Union County (16-11). The Lady Rockets defeated the Bravettes 58-41 in their only meeting this year in December.
The tournament semifinals are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and the championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame Show for the semifinals and finals will be 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
All tickets will be $10 and will be sold online at GoFan. Children ages 5-and-under will be admitted free. All fans must pass through metal detectors upon entry and no bags or purses will be allowed in the gym.
