Lyon County advances past HCA in All ‘A’ quarterfinals

Lyon County got off to a big early lead and Payson Oliver held Heritage Christian Academy’s bats at bay as the Lyons defeated the Warriors 10-0 in a six-inning All “A” Region 2 Baseball Tournament game Monday in Eddyville. 

Oliver tossed a complete-game five-hitter for the Lyons, who advanced to play University Heights Academy at 7 p.m. today in the tournament semifinals at 7 p.m. Airtime for the game is at 6:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com. 

Collin Outland had two hits in the game for the Warriors, who fell to 2-7 on the season. 

Lyon, which had only two hits in the game, led 5-0 after two innings and added a solo run in the bottom of the fourth. Lyon County put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with four runs.  

The Lyons took advantage of 11 walks and six Warriors’ errors in the game. 

Caden Hale suffered the pitching loss for the Warriors, who are scheduled to play host to Todd County Central on Monday.
