No. 16 Blazers top No. 4 Sayre, No. 11 Frederick Douglass

It was a big weekend for the University Heights Academy baseball team in Somerset. The 16th-ranked Blazers rallied from seven runs down and held off No. 11-ranked Frederick Douglass 12-10 Sunday. AJ Hogart drove in four runs and Josh Pace picked up the pitching win.

The Broncos led 7-0 after three innings, but the Blazers scored six runs in the top of the fourth. Hogart had a three-run double and Thomas Hallmark also had a two-run double in the frame for UHA.

Hallmark also pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out six batters to slow the Frederick Douglass offense.

After the Broncos scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 8-6, UHA scored four in the top of the sixth inning to take a 10-8 advantage.

The Blazers increased their lead to 12-8 with two more runs in the top of the seventh. However, the Broncos scored two runs and had runners in scoring position. However, Pace got a strikeout to end the game.

On Saturday, UHA got a one-out, RBI single from Pace in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat No. 4-ranked Sayre 8-7. Ryan Luckey went 3-for-4 in the win and Jackson Flynn earned the pitching win.
