No. 17 Colonels drop 2 of 3 in Hoover, Alabama

The Christian County Colonels’ baseball team dropped two of three games in Hoover, Ala., over the weekend.  

The No. 17-ranked Colonels began play in the event against nationally ranked Knoxville (Tenn.) Farragut and fell 8-7. 

Gage Montes and Gavin Mitchell each picked up a pair of hits for Christian County. 

The Colonels led 3-2 through four innings, but the Admirals scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win. 

Christian County opened play on Saturday and defeated Bearden 8-3 behind Chase Fort, who went 3-for-4.  Montes, who had a pair of hits also picked up the pitching win for the Colonels. 

Blake Boehman had a double for the Colonels. 

Against nationally ranked Hoover on Saturday, Boehman had a pair of doubles but the host Bucs won 10-2. 

Andrew Mayes, Layton Creamer, and Deuce Embrey also had singles for Christian County. 

Hoover led 5-2 entering the bottom of the fifth but blew the game open with four runs in the frame. The Bucs added another run in the bottom of the sixth.  

The Colonels (3-4) are scheduled to play host to Heritage Christian Academy Thursday in a District 8 doubleheader.
