The Hopkinsville Tigers played visiting Owensboro close for three quarters, but the Red Devils outscored Hoptown 30-14 in the second quarter on the way to an 87-67 basketball scrimmage win Thursday night in Tiger Gym.
Layton Giltner had 18 points to lead Hopkinsville. James Bradley had 17 and Jonovan Leavell added 16.
Owensboro led 16-15 after one quarter, but after the big second period, led 46-29 at half.
The two teams played to a 19-19 tie in the third quarter and Owensboro outscored the Tigers 22-19 in the final frame.
Hopkinsville will open its regular season Dec. 2 at Ohio County.
