With rain expected to arrive in the area late this afternoon, Region 2 baseball officials decided to alter plans for the tournament, which will open this morning at two different locations.
In Eddyville at Lee S. Jones Park, Christian County will take on District 6 champion Henderson County at 10 a.m. The two teams met earlier this season with Henderson winning 8-5. Christian County enters the game with a 15-14 record and Henderson is 10-15.
The second game in Eddyville will start about 30 minutes after the completion of the first contest and feature District 5 champion Lyon County (18-7) against District 7 runner-up Caldwell County (19-6).
Meanwhile, the top portion of the bracket will play at University Heights Academy beginning at 10 a.m. with District 7 champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (20-11) facing Trigg County (12-11). Host UHA (18-10) will play District 6 runner-up Union County (14-17) 30 minutes after the completion of the first game. The Blazers and Braves did not meet this season.
Today’s UHA-Union County game will air around 12:30 on 95.3 The Farm.
The semifinals will be played at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lee S. Jones Park and the championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday in Eddyville.
