Hopkinsville and Christian County’s swim teams played host to a three-team meet Thursday night against Murray at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center.
Led by the performances of its relay teams, Hoptown won the girls’ meet with 130 points. Murray was second with 67 and Christian County took third with 37.
The Lady Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team took first place with a time of 2:16.18, winning by five seconds over second-place Murray. Brilyn Merrick, Grace Cansler, Lily Johnston, and Saralynn Major made up the HHS team.
Christian County took third place in 2:39.19 and included Addison Peck, Addison Renshaw, Macy McGinnis, and Gracelyn Clark.
In the 200-yard relay, Major, Kaley Bangart, Cansler, and Johnston led the Lady Tigers to a win in 2:04.08. Christian County was third in 2:12.79. The Lady Colonels consisted of Renshaw, McGinnis, Clark, and Peck.
Hoptown dominated the 400-yard freestyle relay as well with Kaley Bangart, Sarah Kate Gilliam, Kaydon Coats, and Evelyn Bangart finishing in a time of 4:55.75.
Individually, Johnston had a big night for the Lady Tigers as she won the 200-yard I.M. in 2:46.90, just ahead of teammate Cansler (2:47.48). Johnston also won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:19.10.
Cansler picked up a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.97.
Major and Coats finished runner-up and third, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 2:27.30 and 2:42.09. Major also was second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:05.94, just ahead of teammate Kaley Bangart (1:07.67).
Brooke Ebinger earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:35.28, while Christian County’s Peck was third in 1:47.67.
Kaley Bangart also earned a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 30.98.
In the boys’ meet, Murray scored 106 points to defeat Hopkinsville (72) and Christian County (64).
The Colonels’ 400-yard freestyle team of Bryce Hamlin, Lucas Coats, Zachary Manco, and Calyx Rizer finished first in a time of 5:36.71.
Hopkinsville’s 200-yard medley relay team was second in 2:19.37. The team was made up of Owen Lockhart, Simon Lockhart, Levi Johnston, and Luke Johnston. Christian County’s team of Kolton Parker, Shemar Barker, Sam Peck, and Evan Meacham took third in 2:26.13.
In the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay, Hoptown’s team of Simon Lockhart, Luke Johnston, Owen Lockhart, and Levi Johnston finished second with a time of 2:05.13, just ahead of the Colonels’ team of Peck, Parker, Meacham, and Barker in 2:08.55.
Individually, Hopkinsville’s Owen Lockhart won the grueling 500-yard freestyle event in 6:41.80 while Christian County’s Parker was second in 7:12.01.
Hoptown’s Levi Johnston was second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.43 seconds. Christian County’s Barker was third in 28.22.
Barker was runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.14 while Hopkinsville’s Simon Lockhart was third in 1:27.83.
Levi Johnston also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.61 seconds.
The Tigers’ Owen Lockhart took third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:26.59.
