Katie Smith had four RBI and led Christian County to a 17-1, three-inning District 8 softball victory over visiting Heritage Christian Academy on Thursday.
The improved the Lady Colonels to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in District 8 play. HCA slipped to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the district.
Smith doubled and singled as part of a 10-run second inning that ended the game.
After HCA took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a double by Madison Warren, the Lady Colonels scored seven runs to lead 7-1 entering the second frame.
Aly Grant had a double in the first inning for Christian County. Chloe Almy and Jayda Turner also had hits in the first frame for the Lady Colonels.
Avery Adcock earned the pitching win for Christian County as she allowed only one hit and struck out four in two innings. Jordan Turner pitched the final inning for CCHS.
Layton Weeks suffered the pitching loss for HCA, which returns to play Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Warren Central.
Christian County is scheduled to play at University Heights Academy tonight.
