It was a big night for former Hopkinsville High School and Heritage Christian Academy baseball player JJ Thompson on Thursday.
The freshman left-hander earned his first victory for Wright State University by pitching three innings of relief in a 12-5 win over Oakland.
Thompson struck out two and allowed one hit and no runs to improve to 1-0 on the season.
For the season, Thompson has pitched 22 2/3 innings with 18 strikeouts and 20 walks. He has allowed 15 hits and has a 3.18 ERA.
Wright State is 22-14 this season.
