The Hopkinsville Tigers and Christian County Colonels completed their pool-play games Friday in the opening day of the Best of the West 7-on-7 Passing Tournament at the Stadium of Champions.
Hoptown went 2-2 on the day with wins over Fort Campbell (41-2) and Kenwood (30-11). The Tigers lost on the final play against Clarksville Northeast (22-13). The Tigers’ other loss came to Franklin County (37-18).
Christian County started off the day with a close 27-18 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins before running into two of the top teams in the tournament.
Pearl Cohn defeated the Colonels 36-7 and defending tournament champion Macon County knocked off Christian County 33-7.
The Colonels defeated Warren Central 26-24 in their final pool play game to finish 1-3 on the day.
The single-elimination tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Christian County will take on Fort Campbell in the 8:30 game with the winner advancing to play Paducah Tilghman at 9 a.m.
Hopkinsville will play Warren Central at 9:30 a.m. with the winner advancing to play the winner of the Union County-Logan County game at 10 a.m.
