It will be a short road trip for the Hopkinsville Tigers’ football team tonight as it heads west to take on the Trigg County Wildcats at Perdue Field.
Hoptown enters the game 2-1 after routing Prosser Academy of Chicago 55-0 last Saturday. Meanwhile, Trigg County is 1-2, but has lost its last two games by one point each.
The Wildcats are led by sophomore quarterback Caden Scott, who has thrown for 551 yards so far this season. Trigg also averages about 240 yards rushing per game.
Hopkinsville coach Dustin Lopez said his team will have its hands full tonight with the Wildcats.
Former Christian County and Hopkinsville high school assistant coach Rusty Goble is the Trigg offensive coordinator and Chris Ezell, the brother of Hoptown Athletics Director Jacob Ezell, is the Wildcats’ head coach.
The Tigers are lead the series 17-2-1. The last time the two teams played was in 2013 with the Wildcats winning 41-35 in overtime.
Trigg will have to stop Hoptown senior tailback James Bradley Jr., who has run for 390 yards and six touchdowns this season. Senior wide receiver Aiden Jesse has caught nine passes for 215 yards and four scores.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with airtime set for 6:30 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
