Tigers ready to renew grid rivalry with Clarksville

The Hopkinsville Tigers will face an old rival tonight when they travel to Clarksville High School to meet the Wildcats.

This is the 67th meeting in the series, which began in 1909. The two teams have met only twice since 1992, the last time in 2023 when the Wildcats won 42-0.

First-year Hopkinsville head coach Dustin Lopez was the defensive coordinator last year and he is familiar with the offense he will be facing tonight. Lopez said his team must be prepared to stop the Clarksville running game.

Clarksville has won 18 straight regular-season games entering today’s 7 p.m. contest and is 3-0 this season.

Hoptown leads the all-time series 34-29-3 but the last win over the Wildcats was in 1992.

Tonight’s game can be heard at 6:30 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
