The Hopkinsville Tigers will open the second night of the Boys’ Region 2 Basketball Tournament tonight against Henderson County at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.
The Tigers (15-15), who finished as District 8 runner-up, will face region tournament favorite and District 6 champion Henderson County (22-6). The Colonels routed the Tigers 83-56 during the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic in December. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame Show will be at 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
The second game today, which is set for 7:30 p.m., will feature District 5 and defending three-time region champion Lyon County (24-7) against District 7 runner-up Dawson Springs (17-15). The Lyons blew out the Panthers 107-65 on Feb. 10.
All tickets will be $10 cash only at the door. Children ages 5-and-under are admitted free. All fans attending are asked to use the entrance through the new part of the building and not the traditional entrance to the gym.
Madisonville advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday night with an 80-63 win over Livingston Central. Union County also moved on to the semifinals with a 62-45 win over Christian County.
The semifinal round will be played at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night at Madisonville.
