Dates and times have been set for the boys’ and girls’ state soccer tournament first-round games next week.
The boys’ tournament will begin on Monday night.
Region 2 champion University Heights Academy (18-6) will travel to Region 3 champion Owensboro (18-2-2) at 7 p.m.
The two teams have not met this season but one common opponent is Henderson County. The Blazers edged the Colonels 2-1 in the second overtime period Thursday night to win the region title. The Red Devils beat the Colonels 4-1 earlier this season.
The winner of Monday’s game will host the next round of the tournament on Oct. 25.
Meanwhile, the girls’ state tournament will begin on Tuesday night with Region 2 champion University Heights Academy traveling to Owensboro to meet Region 3 champion Daviess County at 7 p.m.
UHA enters the game 19-2-1 and defeated Hopkins County Central 2-1 to win the region title on Wednesday night. Daviess County is 16-6-2 on the season.
The two teams met in early September in Marshall County and tied 2-2.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will play host to the state quarterfinals on Oct. 25.
