University Heights Academy put together an impressive performance Wednesday at the Class 1-A Indoor State Track and Field Championships in Louisville.
The Blazers’ 400-meter relay team took home the state title. The team is made up of Harlow Hampton, Griffin McCoy, Ryan Luckey, and Tobias Duncan.
The 200-meter relay team finished as state runner-up. The team is made up of McCoy, Luckey, Hampton, and Clayton Lester.
McCoy also picked up a silver medal in the 200-meter dash and Hampton finished 14th.
Individually, Duncan placed fifth in the 800-meter run and McCoy took sixth in the 55-meter dash. Logan Miller placed seventh in the 55-meter hurdles.
Miller also finished 23rd in the 400-meter and Jude Finch placed 20th in the 3,200-meter run.
UHA took sixth place in the team competition, only 12 points out of first place.
Meanwhile, the Lady Blazers also had a good day on Wednesday.
The girls’ 400-meter relay team of Ajae Oatts, Emma Dill, Kendall Hancock, and Amoree Owen finished sixth. The 200-meter relay team of Oatts, Aliviah Acree, Hancock, and Dill was seventh.
Individually, Dill finished eighth and Oatts took ninth in the 55-meter hurdles.
Hancock finished eighth and Palin Hampton took 23rd in the 400-meter dash.
Oatts was ninth and Hancock took 14th in the 200-meter dash.
