University Heights Academy is looking for a new softball coach after Ashlie Ezell turned in her resignation following the final game of the season.
Ezell coached the Lady Blazers to a 10-21 record in two seasons including two District 8 runner-up finishes and a pair of appearances in the Region 2 tournament.
Ezell told WHOP Sports on Thursday that she has accepted a position at Christian County High School and also will serve on the softball coaching staff for the Lady Colonels’ varsity and middle school programs.
“My youngest will be able to play middle school ball this fall and with my daughter, Talyn, already playing for Christian County, it is just a good opportunity for me to be able to spend more time with them,” Ezell said.
UHA Athletics Director Taylor Sparks said he appreciated what Ezell had done for the Lady Blazers’ program.
“There’s no hard feelings here, we are so appreciated of Ashlie and what she has done for us here at UHA,” Sparks said. “It is totally understandable that she would want to be where she can coach and spend more time with her own kids. We wish her the best of luck in her new position.”
