101st Airborne Division to start training operations, expect increased air traffic

The 101st Airborne Division Air Assault is letting the surrounding communities know that there will be a major training event taking places across the region. 

According to a news release, this exercise will stretch from Fort Campbell in Kentucky to various locations in Mississippi and Louisiana and is designed to designed to assess the division’s ability to conduct large-scale, long-range air assault operations in conjunction with training scenarios that will test their communication, logistical resupply and tactical abilities.

All military training will take place on military installations or local airfields, but residents may see or hear an increased helicopter presence.

The Combat Aviation Brigade and supporting elements will establish various Forward Arming and Refueling Points for aircraft flying between Fort Campbell, KY, and Fort Johnson, LA.

While most of the impact will be in other communities, the areas around Fort Campbell can expect increased air traffic noise.
