14 people transported to area hospitals following multi-vehicle crash on I-24

A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 24 Sunday afternoon sent a multitude of people to area hospitals for treatment.

According to Hopkinsville Fire and EMS, it happened just before 4 p.m. near the 91-mile-marker for reports of a crash involving at least three passengers cars and an 18-wheeler. Upon arriving on scene, the incident was upgraded to a mass casualty event, closing both westbound and eastbound.

A total of 14 patients were transported from the scene to local hospitals, with their current conditions unknown. HFD believes that all injuries were non-life-threatening in nature.

Numerous agencies responded to the scene, including Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Fort Campbell EMS, Todd County EMS, Montgomery County EMS, Christian County Emergency Management, Christian County Rescue and Christian County Sheriff’s Department.
