Police arrest man for drug charges following traffic stop

Hopkinsville Police arrested 31-year-old Austin King who was found to be in possession of illegal controlled substances on Wednesday following a traffic stop.

According to a report from police, King was driving north on South Virginia Street when officers performed a traffic stop on him because they found that his vehicle registration was expired and there was an active warrant for his arrest.

A search of King’s person reportedly unveiled a container of blue M30 pills suspected to be fentanyl, and a search of his vehicle unveiled suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, empty syringes and single pill suspected to be Clonazepam.

King was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, not having registration plates, driving on a DUI suspended license, tampering with physical evidence, possession of synthetic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and not maintaining a prescription controlled substance in a proper container.
