CCHS marching band starts season strong with grand champion win

The Christian County Colonel Marching Band got its competitive season off to a strong start this past weekend, as they were named overall Grand Champions at the annual Franklin-Simpson Marching Invitational on Saturday.

Not only was the Colonel Band named grand champion—they also took home Best Color Guard, Best Percussion and first place in Class 4A. In a news release, Directors of Bands Anthony Darnall says, “I am beyond proud of our students’ hard work and dedication to the program and can’t see what the season holds for the Colonel Band. I am equally as thankful to the dedicated staff and parents who help make the season possible.”

The Colonel Band is marching 100 students this year, in their show titled, “A Step Above”.

The band will be hosting the Christian County Tournament of Bands at the Stadium of Champions this coming Saturday, September 14, welcoming 12 bands to compete, including the Hopkinsville High School Band of Tigers.  That will signify the start of Hopkinsville’s competitive season.
