Lewis to serve as Freedom Elementary principal

Freedom Elementary School will have a new principal, after the Site-Based Decision-Making Council has selected Monique Lewis for the position. 

According to a news release, the council was in full agreement with Lewis taking over the over the role, and she most recently served as the assistant principal for the school. Lewis began her teaching career in 1998 with Christian County Public Schools. The first 24 years of her career, she taught at Belmont Elementary, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, and Sinking Fork Elementary. In 2022, she transitioned to an administrative role, joining the leadership team at Freedom Elementary School as assistant principal.

Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in instructional leadership and Rank I certification from Murray State University. 

Lewis says, “I am honored to be chosen as the next principal and look forward to continuing the work at Freedom Elementary. I am committed to building on the progress we’ve made and creating an environment where both students and staff can achieve their fullest potential. The future is bright at Freedom Elementary, and I am excited to work alongside our dedicated staff, students, and community to make that vision a reality.”
