The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating a robbery after two citizens were able to put a stop to an attempted theft of a vehicle.
According to the police report, two unknown suspects were attempting to steal the victim’s vehicle from the driveway on South Jessup Street at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night by breaking into the steering column and using a USB charger to force the vehicle to start. While the suspects were attempting to leave, the victim and her roommate ran outside.
That’s when the suspect acting as the driver fled on foot, and the victim and her roommate pinned the front passenger side door, keeping the second suspect from fleeing.
The suspect reportedly began yelling about a gun, which the victim took as a threat and believed the suspect had a gun. That’s when they let go of the door and the suspect escaped on foot.
No suspects are listed on the report and the incident is being investigated as first-degree robbery.
