Cold will give way to more normal temperatures, chance for rain in the weekend

Our cold temperatures will be reluctant to let go of their hold on the region this week, but they will eventually warm to near normal temperatures, with a chance for precipitation on the weekend.

Meteorologist Steven Eddy with the National Weather Service in Paducah says the single-digit readings on the thermometer have been no fun, but those temperatures will slowly increase over Wednesday and the rest of the week, returning to more normal degrees—but there is a little chance of precipitation on Saturday.

After that, temperatures look to stay fairly average for a while, with normal chances for precipitation, but Eddy says the end of the month and the start of February is looking like it could be fairly rainy.

In the long-range outlook, Eddy says there are no big indicators at this time for significant ice or snowfall, or severe weather in the data.
