The Hopkinsville Rotary Club is inviting the community to its 75th auction fundraiser to support local students pursuing higher education.
The annual auction is the club’s biggest fundraiser and Auction Chair Landan Stallons says the theme is “75 Years of Financing our Future.”
Last year the auction raised around $560,000 a record amount. Stallons says he hopes to meet last year’s auction total, but also looks forward to possibly exceeding it.
Every bit of the money raised will go toward rotary programs which support students attending Hopkinsville Community College as well as students pursuing careers that are locally in high demand.
Stallons shared that the Rotary Scholars Program allows local high school graduates to attend HCC for free. Since the program started in 2012, Stallons says around 1,700 have attended HCC tuition free.
Then the Rotary Impact Program offers financial support and a streamlined program for students pursuing careers in healthcare, education and agriculture so far. Those in the program are encouraged to work locally after they graduate.
Stallons says funds from the coming auction will go toward possibly expanding the program to offer students more career pathways.
The 75th Rotary Auction is set for April 21 to April 26 at the War memorial Building.
