Community unveils sign honoring former CCHS basketball player

Christian County High School alumna and basketball player Arnika Brown was honored with a sign highlighting her athletic achievements on Wednesday.

Brown was a star player on the Christian County Lady Colonels Basketball team and was named Miss Kentucky Basketball in 2006, her senior year. She was later inducted into the Kentucky All-Star Hall of Fame in 2016.

Seeing the sign unveiled, Brown was emotionally moved and says it spotlights her hard work and dedication and the talent of her high school team.

Local government officials and Christian County Public School System members worked to make the sign a reality. Brown says she feels love from her community and gave a special shout out to Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight for making the sign happen.

Brown currently works as a youth sports and fitness director at Fort Drum, New York, and was recently accepted to the United States Sports Academy to pursue a doctoral degree in sports management. Brown’s sign stands along Lovers Lane near Hopkinsville Towne Center.
