Hopkinsville Community College and Madisonville Community College are both celebrating, after their joint surgical technology program took first place in an annual competition.
Known as the “Scrub Bowl”, this competition is a trivia-style event that is a part of the Association of Surgical Technologists Kentucky State Annual Conference, bringing together surgical technology students from across the state. It tests their knowledge while preparing them for their upcoming certification exams.
The Madisonville-Hopkinsville team brought home first place in this year’s competition and the program is a joint effort between the two colleges to fulfill the need for skilled surgical technologists in the Pennyrile region.
Applications for the 2025-2026 cohort are due by May 1. Classes begin in August.
