April marks Financial Literacy Month and Kentucky Cooperative Extension Services (KCES) hosted the Piggy Bank Contest to teach children the importance of having good financial habits.
During a recent awards ceremony, student winners were recognized for the elaborately decorated piggy banks that they submitted to the competition.
A news release from the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet shares that the competition and event spotlights the development of healthy financial habits. Students across the state were honored at the ceremony, including third-grader Grayson Haley from Todd County.
Governor Andy Beshear was at the ceremony and said he wants to continue to build a strong future for everyone, especially for the kids in Kentucky. He adds that to do this, educators need to be committed to teaching youth about good financial habits that encourage individuals to take charge of their financial future.
