Trigg County Tourism Director spotlights summer activities

Summer is in full swing, which means there’s many activities going on in Trigg County and Beth Sumner, the executive director of the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist and Convention Commission, recently appeared on WHOP to tell listeners about it all.

Friday kicks off Fourth of July weekend and Sumner is inviting the community to Lake Barkley State Resort Park for some fun. On Friday night the park is hosting a seafood buffet and then on Saturday the commission will be hosting a firework show at Lake Barkley Beach.

Before the firework show gets underway at 9 p.m., Sumner says there will be music, a beer garden, face painting and other activities for the kiddos.

On Saturday night there will also be a fireworks show at Prizer Point Marina.

The next Cadiz Cruz-in will take over West Cadiz Park on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Cruz-in will feature antique and modified cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Cruz-ins are hosted monthly throughout the summer until October. During the summer the commission also hosts the Cadiz Farmers Market each Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at the pavilion in downtown near Main Street.

Later in the year, Sumner says the community will be invited to celebrate the Lake Barkley Lodge’s 55th anniversary. Then in September she says the lodge is set to undergo major renovations.
