KSP warns of ongoing phone scam in the area

Kentucky State Police Post 2 is giving a warning to the public of an ongoing phone scam, where scammers are impersonating state troopers.

This time, scammers are specifically impersonating Trooper Ridge Porter, and threatening the victims with arrest unless money is sent to them immediately—officials say this is plainly a scam, as troopers will never demand money is exchange for not arresting you.

These tactics are fraudulent and intended to intimidate people into sending money under false pretenses. If you receive a phone call like this, hang up immediately.

Folks are reminded to never give out personal or financial information over the phone. Individuals can report scams to the Kentucky Attorney General at (888) 432-9257.
