Hope’s Healthcare invites community to back-to-school event

It’s almost school time and to help students prepare, the staff at Hope’s Healthcare are set to give out school supplies and spotlight their Hopeful Horizons program at Friday’s Launch into Learning event.

Hope’s Healthcare is a local behavioral health organization that provides testing and treatment for psychiatric illnesses. Katelyn Hodge, the practice manager at Hope’s Healthcare, says in the past they have hosted community outreach events to support local students and they wanted to continue those efforts this year.

At their Launch into Learning event, Hodge says the first 30 children to come will get a bag of free school supplies, nonperishable food items and drinks. Children can also enjoy coloring activities, board game stations and Lego building. Hodge says they will also be spotlighting their Hopeful Horizons youth program.

Hodge says the program is for children between the ages of 4 and 15 who might have ADHD, anger and defiance issues, low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. Hodge says youth in the program attend weekly sessions where they are split into groups and learn how to appropriately interact and work with each other.

The programs sessions are three months-long and conclude with a patient reassessment to examine their progress. Patients do not need a referral to join the program and can instead be assessed by the staff at Hope’s Healthcare.

Hodge says she is excited to host the back-to-school event to support students and inform parents of services that could possibly help their children.

The Launch into Learning event is on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Hope’s Healthcare which is located on the third floor of the Pennyroyal Building at 1100 South Main Street. More information about the behavioral health organization is available at Hope’s Healthcare on Facebook.
