Clarksville police officer arrested on assault, kidnapping charges

A Clarksville police officer is facing charges of assault and kidnapping, and the Clarksville Police Department say they’re cooperating fully with the investigation.

Clarksville police conducted the initial investigation that led to the arrest of 38-year-old Alan Greenman, who was an officer with the Clarksville Police Department. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault domestic violence.

In accordance with CPD policy, Greenman was immediately placed on administrative leave and will remain so until the department can complete an internal investigation, which is separate from the criminal investigation.

Greenman was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

In a statement, Clarksville Police say this behavior is not representative of the Clarksville Police Department, saying, “No one is above the law, police officers included. Everyone is afforded due process and considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Our reputation and our relationship with the citizens of Clarksville are paramount. We are committed to holding all employees—sworn and civilian—accountable, both administratively and criminally. If these allegations are proven true, we will seek swift justice while ensuring protections for the victim.”
