Doggie Dip returns to wrap up the season at Bluegrass Splash

School is in session and the season is coming to a close for the Bluegrass Family Aquatic Center–which means it’s time for the dogs to have their day of fun in the water.

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is bringing back the popular Doggie Dip on September 6, where folks can bring their canine best friends to the water park that day and let them play and swim and fetch to their hearts content. Superintendent Toby Hudson says entry is $5 and dogs 25 pounds and under can swim from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then dogs 25 pounds and up will have the pool from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Some grounds rules, Hudson says, are no humans in the pool unless it’s an emergency, and owners must sign a waiver before entry. After the dogs have their day, Bluegrass Splash will be officially closed for the year, and fully cleaned before opening next summer.

He says it’s been a good year for the water park, with good attendance numbers despite wild weather in the early summer.

You can stay up-to-date on the water park, when they open and close and events that may be having, by visiting them on the Bluegrass Spash Facebook page.
