CCPS hosts donation drive to support alum’s battle against cancer

To support Chase Pemberton, a 2020 Hopkinsville High School graduate, in his battle against Leukemia, the Christian County Public School System is hosting a gift card donation drive.

Earlier this year, Pemberton was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and according to CCPS he was recently matched with a donor for a bone marrow transplant. Pemberton is set to travel to Houston, Texas for the transplant treatment.

Treatment is expected to last several months, so to support Pemberton and his family, CCPS is launching the “Chase-ing Victory” Gift Card Drive. Full Service Community Schools Director Nicole Poindexter says gift cards for places such as Walmart, Target, DoorDash, UberEats or general Visa gift cards will be the most helpful to Pemberton’s family.

Poindexter says the cards will be mailed to Pemberton and his mother while he undergoes treatment.

Gift cards can be dropped off at the CCPS Central Office at 200 Glass Avenue or at any school Family Resource and Youth Services Center from September 15 to September 19. Poindexter says each month a week will be designated for gift card collection.
