Horseshoes and Heartbeats trail ride to benefit Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary this Saturday

Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary is putting out the call for horse riders and animal enthusiasts to come take part in their 4th annual benefit trail ride—Horseshoes and Heartbeats.

This is a group trail ride set to take place this Saturday, October 18, at the Pennyrile State Forest Park Equine Trailhead, and while the ride itself will start at about noon, the festivities themselves get underway at 11 a.m.  Haven Founder CJ Hale says the day will get started with a Blessing of the Animals, and all pets are invited to attend to be blessed, and then the ride will get underway right after.

Hale says the ride lasts about two-hours down a scenic trail, with riders of all skill levels welcome—along with their horses—and this is their largest fundraiser event.

While it’s no cost to take part, Hale says they’re always grateful for any donations they receive, with all money raised going right back into caring for Haven’s animals, from food to veterinary costs. And those costs are high, as most of the animals they take in have medical problems and higher veterinary needs.

One such pet is Hoggle, a little fuzzy-faced terrier mix, who has a slew of special needs that send him to the doctor often—but Hale says he doesn’t let any of it slow him down, and so they won’t let him down in return.

Haven 12:10 began in response to what Hale calls an overwhelming need for more animal care resources, and since they began six years ago, they’ve helped hundreds of animals, and gotten hundreds adopted.

Hale says nothing they accomplish would be possible without the support of the community, whether that be through donations or adoptions or volunteerism, and she’s looking forward to seeing a tremendous turnout on Saturday to help support those animals who need it most.
