Brown Road in Hopkins Co. back open to traffic following repairs

Brown Road in Hopkins County is officially back open to traffic after being closed in September due to ground slides.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, KY 254 in Hopkins County closed in September due to ground slides along roughly two and a half miles of roadway between the nine and 12-mile-points.

Slides occur when flood waters and other weather erode the ground beneath the roadway, causing it to slide from beneath it—and that area flooded heavily twice earlier in the year.

Now, repairs have been fully completed and the roadway is back open to motorists.
