GoblinCon takes over the Bruce Center, continues tomorrow

Lovers of the supernatural and the extraterrestrial crowded the Bruce Convention Center on Friday for Hopkinsville’s first ever GoblinCon UFO and Paranormal Expo.

Ever since she became the Executive Director of Visit Hopkinsville, Amy Rogers says she knew she wanted to shine a light on Hopkinsville’s extraterrestrial history. In 1955, the Hopkinsville police station was swarmed with reports of people saying they had a close encounter with aliens in the Kelly community.

Visit Hopkinsville has been working for around a year to bring GoblinCon to life and Rogers says it feels like she’s living a dream now that the event has become a reality.

GoblinCon kicked off at noon on Friday, and Rogers shared that she has met with many people that have traveled quite a distance to attend the event. Rogers says a couple of folks even traveled from Hamburg, Germany to attend GoblinCon.

Along with spotlighting the Kelly encounter, GoblinCon has panels and special guests talking about the Bell Witch, the Beast of Land Between the Lakes, Bigfoot and much more. The event also has a wide variety of craft vendors, an outdoor Kids’ Zone and a game room with arcade games and board games.

At GoblinCon, Rogers says they are hosting a food drive for the Aaron McNeil, a local nonprofit that provides food for those in need. Those who donate nonperishable foods will be put into a raffle to win some prizes.

For those who missed out on the festivities on Friday, don’t worry because GoblinCon continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. and tickets are available at goblinconky.com.
