After a warm start to fall, folks in the region woke up to a chill in the air Monday morning and the cooler temperatures are set to stick around.
Lead Forecaster Keith Cooley with the National Weather Service in Paducah says temperatures are set to be near to below normal throughout the week which could result in frost forming and some areas might experience gusty wind levels.
Then rain chances return during the weekend and Cooley says they are not expecting any severe weather to come along. However, in the beginning of next week, he says they are keeping their eye on a stronger cold front that could bring storms and high winds.
Cooley says the rain combined with the cooler temperatures will help with reducing regional drought conditions. As of October 14, southern parts of Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties were still impacted by drought conditions.
Then looking toward next week, Cooley says temperatures are set to be near normal and precipitation levels are set to be slightly above normal.
