United Way Director shares campaign update, spotlights upcoming events

In early September, members of the United Way of the Pennyrile announced their goal of raising $715,000 for this year’s campaign, and Executive Director Melanie Noffsinger shared that they are near the halfway point of reaching their goal.

The local United Way supports 16 partner agencies across Christian, Todd and Trigg counties. Some of the partner agencies include Aaron McNeil House, Inc., the Dyslexia Association of the Pennyrile, Sanctuary, Inc., the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville and the Christian County Rescue Squad.

Bri Smith and Abigail Landrum are campaign co-chairs, and this year’s slogan is “Give Unlimited Possibilities!”

The campaign was publicly launched with around $235,100 in the bank and on Monday Noffsinger shared that they have raised over $300,000, but they still got a long way to go.

To encourage more donations and raise awareness of the United Way’s mission, Noffsinger says they are partnering with H&R Agri Power to host a golf scramble benefiting the campaign. The event will take place at Western Hills Municipal Golf Course on November 1, starting at 8:15 a.m.

Noffsinger says they are seeking four-person teams and sponsors for the golf scramble. Participants will have opportunities to win door prizes, giveaways, and cash prizes.

Noffsinger was announced as the executive director of the local United Way in 2024 and this is the first campaign that she will be leading from start to finish. The position come with a large work load, but Noffsinger says she has enjoyed learning more about their partner agencies and seeing firsthand how they support people in the community.
