Christian County is home to multiple economic developments, and at last week’s Hopkinsville City Council meeting, South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Director Carter Hendricks provided some industry updates.
Ascend Elements’ Apex 1 Facility at Commerce Park II has faced multiple setbacks, but Hendricks says the company’s leadership has affirmed that the facility is still coming to Hopkinsville. Hendricks says construction is set to ramp back up in 2027.
Cinis Fertilizer is also set to come to Commerce Park II, but the company’s operations partially rely on Ascend Elements. Some of the waste from the battery manufacturer will be recycled and used to make fertilizer. Hendricks says the beginning of Cinis’ operations depends on when work begins at Apex 1.
While work remains on pause for Ascend Elements, Hendricks says road and rail infrastructure at Commerce Park II has been constructed to support operations.
Then, going to Hopkinsville’s South Park, Hendricks says Toyota Boshoku is set to have its grand opening on December 9. The facility will focus on manufacturing interior systems for motor vehicles, and Hendricks says the facility currently has around 100 employees, and once fully operational, there will be around 160 employees.
Then, in Oak Grove, Hendricks says a groundbreaking ceremony is set to be hosted for Buccee’s either later this year or early next year. The mega gas station and convenience store is set to be located off of Exit 89.
