Following a brutally cold weekend, the National Weather Service in Paducah expects temperatures to rise and for rain chances to return later in the week.
While nightly temperatures will reach around freezing, Lead Forecaster Keith Cooley says daily high temperatures are set to rise starting on Tuesday and could even reach near 60 degrees by Thursday.
Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Cooley says folks in the region could feel some gusty winds as a weather front approaches. Thursday also comes with a forecast for rain which could return during the weekend, and Cooley says some areas could receive thunderstorms.
The region is expected to receive between a quarter of an inch to one inch of rain, and Cooley says the heaviest rainfall is set to fall over Western Kentucky.
Continuing to next week, Cooley says he is expecting weather conditions to remain dry and warming than seasonably normal, so the chances of white Christmas are quite low.
