Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old James Jones of Hopkinsville on Thursday after he reportedly assaulted a woman.
Deputies responded to a residence on Woodbine Street for a mental evaluation and made contact with a woman who was reportedly uneasy on her feet, hunched over in pain and had a large amount of bruises on her hands and arms.
The woman told deputies that Jones assaulted her on Wednesday after accusing her of cheating on him. While in a car, Jones allegedly choked the victim and struck her with closed fists. The assault reportedly continued at a residence on Gospel Peace Road, with Jones slamming her against a wall and continuing to strike her.
The victim was transported to the hospital, and it was determined that she possibly suffered broken ribs from the assault. Deputies later made contact with Jones, who reportedly told them that the victim had struck him but had no bruises or other indicators to confirm his story.
Jones was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
