Goff resigns, Viall steps in as acting director at the Christian Co. Animal Shelter

There’s been a change up at the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter, after Melissa Goff handed in her resignation last week.

Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam accepted her resignation on Wednesday of last week, and they’ll begin the process of finding her replacement immediately. In the meantime, Sherry Viall will be serving as the interim director.

Viall brings a lot of experience to the role, having been active in the animal welfare community and ran the Bed and Biscuit, Inn, which boarded animals and provided grooming services.

There wasn’t much information behind the circumstances of Goff’s departure, with a press release stating that Viall will serve as Acting Director until a new permanent director can be found.

Goff served as the director of the regional shelter since August of 2023, which is when longtime shelter director Irene Grace retired.
