Warmer temperatures to stick around, rain chances to come

As some of the ice left by Winter Storm Fern still remains, the National Weather Service in Paducah is expecting higher temperatures and rain to melt what’s left this week.

National Weather Service Forecaster Rachel Trevino says this week Western Kentucky is facing two chances for rain. From Tuesday to Wednesday, Trevino says the region could receive as little as 0.1 inches of rain, but from Thursday to Sunday, some folks could receive between two to three inches of rain.

Turning toward temperatures, the week has already started unusually warm for winter, and on Tuesday the highs are expected to be in the 60s. From Wednesday to Sunday, Trevino says temperatures are expected to cool down, but the highs will still be considered unseasonably warm and the lows will only hover around freezing.

Next week, Trevino says the higher temperatures are expected to remain and then the precipitation rate is expected to be around normal.
